Heart of the Forest
This project was born from a dream!
I've always wanted to work on card games like Black Book and Night of Full Moon. And since the release of Sea of Thrieves,I have been in love with the visual style of the game. In addition, I am a fan of Propp's books about the origins of Russian fairy tales.
And finally I made up my mind.
I present to you the project where I combined my favorite visuals, my favorite gameplay and my favorite Russian fairy tales merged into one!
Battle Screens
The player walks through a series of clearings in the forest, meeting different characters. Most of them challenge the player to a fight.
The mechanics of card games are used for combat.
At any time, the player can view information about the battle by clicking on the button in the upper right corner.
If the battle does not go according to plan, the player can escape.
Non-battle screens
In some clearings, the player can meet friendly characters who will offer the player a deal, money or help.
Before the start of the "race" the player will see a loading screen.
Behind the scenes
The first versions of the logo with a different name did not add up in any way and did not coincide with the overall visuals of the game. Also, the attempt to make my own font failed.
The next first versions of the logo turned out to be too cute and cozy, not conveying the enchanting and dark atmosphere of a fairy-tale forest.
For the HUD, I developed several options:
For the dialogue, I considered many composition options before starting to work on the final version.
